Arguments For Measure Q |
The purpose of this initiative is to establish a 10% tax on fees paid to park vehicles in offstreet
private parking spaces. This tax would not apply to vehicles parked at hotels by overnight
guests, whose parking is included in the room rate. This tax would be competitive with the
comparable taxes already established and being charged in the cities adjacent to Millbrae and to
the San Francisco International Airport, including San Bruno and Burlingame. The proceeds of
the tax would be used by the City to help fund general services including streets, police, parks,
and fire.
The undersigned proponents or authors of the primary argument in favor of ballot proposition (measure) E at the general municipal election for the City of Millbrae to be held on November 8, 2005 hereby state that this argument is true and correct and to the best of their knowledge and belief. Signed: Marc Hershman, Mayor of Millbrae Daniel F. Quigg, Vice Mayor of Millbrae Janet Fogarty, Former Mayor of Millbrae Mimi Lin, Member, Millbrae Senior Advisory Committee Arthur Lepore, Former Mayor of Millbrae
