Shall the Charter of the City of Sunnyvale be amended to include the term "heritage resource" in its list of topics reviewed by the Sunnyvale Heritage Preservation Commission, consistent with existing policy? YES NO
Article X, Section 1016, of the City Charter of the City of Sunnyvale provides that the Heritage Preservation Commission has authority to advise the City Council regarding heritage resources, landmark sites, and landmark districts and that the City Council can by ordinance authorize the Commission to exercise functions with regard to landmark sites and landmark districts. The Sunnyvale City Council proposes amending Article X, Section 1016, to provide that the Heritage Preservation Commission can include heritage resource sites in the scope of its ordinance authority for the Heritage Preservation Council, as it currently does for landmark sites and landmark districts. This amendment is consistent with City policy for protection of heritage resources. A "yes" vote is a vote to amend Article X, Section 1016, of the City Charter of the City of Sunnyvale. A "no" vote is a vote to not amend Article X, Section 1016, of the City Charter of the City of Sunnyvale. DAVID KAHN, City Attorney
