Candidate for
Governing Board Member; ALTA LOMA Elementary School District

I have been married to Kevin Payzant for 24 years. We have three children: Lyndsey (21) a senior at Brigham Young University; Rachel (17) a senior at Los Osos High School; and Grant (14) a freshman at Los Osos High School.

I have lived in Alta Loma since 1987 when our family bought our first home. One of the main reasons we moved to this area was so that our children could take advantage of the excellent school system in the Alta Loma School District.

When our children were just starting their education, I was an active parent at their schools, serving in the PTA organization at Alta Loma Elementary, Victoria Groves School and Vineyard Junior High, as well as giving my time to working in various classrooms. It was while serving as PTA President at Victoria Groves that I became interested in the affairs of the entire school district and I ran for Trustee of the Alta Loma School District in 1993. I have served on the Board of Trustees for the past 12 years.

In addition to my Board duties, I have become involved in several County and State eductional organizations in order to promote and maintain the excellent education opportunities afforded by the Alta Loma School District. Indeed, public education has become my passion.

Currently, I also serve on the Site Council at Los Osos High School and am a member of the Executive Board of the Los Osos Water Polo Booster Club. I am employed by the Chaffey Joint Union High School District as a Substitute Teacher which I enjoy very much.

I am an active member of my church, currently serving as President of the Relief Society, the women's organization.
