Candidate for Governing Board Member; ETIWANDA Elementary School District

This information is provided by the candidate
As a school board member I have worked to increase the academic achievements of our students.
I have served on the Etiwanda School Board for the past 8 years. During that time, our district has doubled in size to over 11,000 students. We have opened a number of new schools and remodeled others to ensure adequate classroom space and other facilities for all our students. We have also faced the same budget constraints as other districts of similar size but have continued to maintain a strong academic program supplemented with enrichment programs to ensure well educated and prepared students.

As your representative, I have advocated for educational programs that provide a strong academic curriculum that goes beyond the basics and prepares our students to make a difference in this fast-paced world. I have worked hard to see that our top priority is to focus our limited education funds in the classroom where they can make the biggest impact in our children's lives. I have also worked closely with District staff to explore ways to improve teaching and learning for all our students.

I championed the use of mobile computer labs and an increase in the number of computers in the classrooms to allow more of our students the opportunity to utilize this valuable resource in their learning. I also have provided support to the District's technology plan which is providing new and innovative learning opportunities and computer skills for our students.

I look forward to continuing to serve the families of the Etiwanda community by keeping our schools strong and ensuring that each child has an opportunity to learn and excel.
