Shall trustee areas be abolished in the Jurupa Unified School District, County of Riverside?

Impartial Analysis from County Counsel
Currently, the Governing Board of the Jurupa Unified School District consists of five (5) members. The district is divided into 5 trustee areas. Each Governing Board member is elected by the registered voters of the entire school district but must reside in the trustee area he or she represents.

Measure “E” proposes to abolish the trustee areas of the Jurupa Unified School District. If Measure “E” is approved, the trustee areas would be abolished and each Governing Board member would be elected by the registered voters of the entire school district with the only residency requirement being that the member reside within Jurupa Unified School District.

Also, if measure “E” is approved, each incumbent Governing Board member shall serve out his or her term of office and that succeeding board members shall be nominated and elected in accordance with the above method.

Respectfully submitted,

JOE S. RANK
COUNTY COUNSEL
