Board Member; Santa Rita Union School District

Dear Neighbors,

I have had the honor of serving the residents and students of the Santa Rita Union school district for approximately 15 years. It has been a very fulfilling experience. We have seen a number of challenges over those years, none of which has been more difficult than the past 3 years. However, the thing that has always occurred, is that this community always understands that we do the very best with what we have.

With all the financial changes and social impacts of this state, our staff and students are always performing at the highest level of excellence. Many say that the measure of a district is their "test scores". Others will say it is the "ending balance of a district's budget". I say it is the entire community being able to support the local education system in any way they can and having confidence that the District's direction is still based upon delivering necessary life skills to all of its children. To be very candid, I will do my very best to continue to voice, in a conservative manner, the fiscal choices of this district. I will also continue to listen to the input of my constituency, teachers, parents, district employees and students, in order to make the fairest and most equitable decisions possible. All the while remembering, I am but one voice in a body of five.
