- To provide additional insight on my background, I'm a Vietnam veteran, having served in Saigon (assigned to Officer in Charge of Construction, Vietnam) the first half of my one-year tour and at the Long Binh Army Base (assigned to Resident Officer in Charge of Construction, Long Binh) the second half of my tour.
- My other duty assignments in the Navy included Long Beach [California] Naval Shipyard; Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE (U. S. Navy Seabees); assignment to Officer in Charge of Construction, Thailand; Naval Air Station Dallas, Texas; Georgia Institute of Technology (Navy's postgraduate education program); Resident Officer in Charge of Construction, Subic Bay (Republic of the Philippines); Civil Engineer Support Office (Construction Battalion Center, Port Hueneme, California) and Naval Air Station, Kingsville, Texas.
- Upon completion of my active duty commitment in the Navy, I served as Public Works Director/City Engineer for the City of Highland, Illinois (four years).
- Since May 1994, I've served as Assistant Director of Public Works/Transportation for Mendocino County, performing Acting Director responsibilities during two extended periods (one for eight months the most recent one for ten months).
- My wife, Emelyn, and I have four children, two of whom are married, have their own families and live afar. The rest of us reside in "Beautiful Redwood Valley."
