  • What are Bill Watkins' goals if elected to the Board of Education?

We must continue to focus on improving our excellent academic program. This can be accomplished by continuing to give our teachers the opportunity to work with our neighboring universities to hear about and integrate the latest teaching strategies and methods into their classrooms and to meet with their fellow teachers across grade levels.

We must offer our parents the opportunity to learn about the curriculum being used with their children and to be an active participant in their children's education. This can be accomplished by presenting to the parents the language arts, math, and science curriculum for each grade level at the beginning of the school year. To continue to improve our educational program, parents must be an integral part of the learning process.

We must continue to find alternative sources of funding for our educational programs. I will continue to work with the community and the Educational Foundation to help fund our programs while maintaining a balanced budget.

  • What can Bill Watkins offer if elected to the Board of Education?

If I am given the opportunity to serve on the ESUSD Board of Education, I would offer the unique perspective of an educator who has taught and been an administrator in the district. Continuing to improve our academic programs for all of our students with the current funding from the state will continue to be a major challenge for the board. To accomplish this, I am prepared, through my educational and employment background, to bring a unique perspective to the board.
