Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Joe Walker

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Temple City Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

What I believe in: Establishing a transparent, open School Board process, with increased

communication and links to community

Ensuring that TCUSD's curriculum at every level prepares each child to

succeed, wherever life takes them ( college-bound, military, the arts,

business,blue collar trades, etc)

Maintaining small classes in Kindergarten-3rd grade Keeping the 20 to 1 ratio in K-3 is the responsibility of the school

district and the board. I fought for this issue in the district budget

committee and will continue to make this a major issue

Honoring our brave men and women who served in the armed forces and

making sure our schools teach about their sacrifices.

Teachers have the greatest influence over the quality of our students

education. I will ensure that our teachers have a safe and productive

work environment that allows them to focus on our student's education.

We also need to ensure that our highly skilled and extremely important

classified staff have the same respect and positive work environment

as our teachers require.

Restoring trust in our Board, by operating in the open, and

maintaining an eye on the only issue--our kids and our schools. No outside political interests should interfere with our decisions

Ensuring a challenging and engaging education for all students (K-12)

as well as caring for their social and emotional needs
