Frank Talavera - Plain and Simple

I am running for school board member for Centinela Valley Union High School District. I hope to be elected on Nov. 8th. I have lived in Lawndale all my life and went through the public education system of Lawndale Elementary School District and the Centinela Valley Union High School District. I am a graduate of Lawndale High School, Class of 1979. I am married to a beautiful and wonderful woman who has supported my endeavors since being united in marriage. Her name is Mabel. We have been married for 11 years and we have three young children who attend the local elementary school. I am a former employee of CVUHSD and have faithfully served the district for 15 years. During my employment with the district I have learned and experienced first hand how the district conducts business and have knowledge of the internal workings of the system. This experience will help me guide the district in a more positive direction where students are the PRIORITY and not buildings or superficial fix-ups. Currently, I am employed by LAUSD as a high school teacher and believe my experience gives me a clearer perspective of the needs of a high school district. There is a wide gulf between elementary needs and high school needs. Presently, I am working on my Masters degree in Secondary Education and Prelimenary Credential at Loyola Marymount University. I have been endorsed by Centinela Valley Secondary Teachers Association and California School Employees Association, Chapter #47. My wife and I are very active in our church as directors of the Marriage and Families Ministries for a multi-ethnic, multicultural, 1500 member church in the South Bay. I am excited at the prospect of serving the children of our district and helping to provide a quality education for all students within our boundaries. My vision is STUDENTS FIRST.
