DEBORAH L. PACHECO'S "VISION" IS WORKING TO IMPLEMENT THE FOLLOWING:

RAISING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

The number one priority is to ensure that every student is succeeding in the South Whittier School District.

I support the continued professional staff development of our teachers to ensure that they have received training in "best practices" for students in assessing student performance and developing curriculum & instruction strategies aligned with the State Standards.

MODERNIZED SCHOOLS

I will continue to support the school district's efforts in modernizing all of our classrooms and libraries at each of our school sites. Our two passed bond measures have given us the resources necessary to fulfill this plan.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

I advocate and support greater parent involvement. We must encourage our parents and community to be involved with our schools. I applaud the efforts of our school PTA's in their efforts to encourage parent involvement.

EDUCATION ADVOCATE

I will continue to advocate for the financial resources necessary from Sacramento to ensure that our schools will provide the necessary classroom instruction and programs for student success. I am honored to be endorsed by our local state Assemblyman Rudy Bermudez who I have worked with closely to promote and advocate for legislation that enhances opportunity for our students in South Whittier.

SCHOOL SAFETY

I will continue to support our school safety programs, nothing is more important to parents than for them to know that our schools are safe. I have worked closely with local law enforcement (L.A. County Sheriffs Dept.) in monitoring gang/grafitti activity in our South Whittier area.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

I will continue to "hold the line" on spending, and will ensure that our precious financial resources are best used in classrooms and for support service to our students.
