By Israel A. Mora

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Wiseburn School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Opening and Closing Statements.
Thank You for the opportunity to share my vision with you.

My wonderful wife Maria, and I have two boys, Sander, and Agustin. Both currently attend Dana Middle School. We are very pleased with the education they have received in the Wiseburn School District. The quality of the teachers, the variety of programs, and the high level of expectations has allowed our children to show their potential and to be prepared for the future.

Why am I running for re-election on the Wiseburn School Board?

I bring 22 years of management experience, knowledge of budgets, cost controls, maximizing resources and generating income. I analyze every expenditure, and have made difficult decisions on budget cuts to keep our district above the 3% minimum reserve. The Board accomplished this goal without cutting major programs, such as Kindergarten 20 to 1 ratio, or laying off any teachers.

I believe in helping all the children in our district, and having a positive effect on their education and on their lives. We have a great district, with excellent teachers, dedicated administrators and involved staff. As a district we have shown consistent positive growth over the last four years, in test scores, in integrating curriculum, and in fostering positive relationships with the teachers and staff.

During the last four years the school board has had a vision of increasing programs, raising test scores and fostering a healthy environment in our schools. I will continue to bring positive change to the Wiseburn School District and lead the efforts in raising our high standards.

Closing:

Thank you to the League of Women Voters and the Hollyglen Homeowners Association for hosting this forum tonight. Most of all, thank you for attending tonight, and showing your interest in the welfare of our children.

As a school board member, I am proud to say our district is strong, financially sound, and has the leadership and vision to continue to excel into the future. I will continue to use my management experience to make the difficult decisions, to ask the tough questions and to plan for the future.

In the last four years I have been a part of re-energizing the Wiseburn Education Foundation, through Rock Around the Block, we have raised funds to pay for the Music Teacher in our Elementary Schools. We have been aggressive in pursuing and receiving grants by involving the business community. We have looked for ways to generate income, to improve the academic choices of our children, to offer a more diverse education.

Our district has had a very inclusive attitude towards building our schools. We have encouraged our staff, teachers, and community members to have a say in building the best schools possible. Final architectural plans are at the State for approval.

We will continue to support the community driven unification efforts, so the voice of our residents can be heard.

Joanne Kaneda, Nelson Martinez and I, bring a diverse background of experience and dedication to lead our district to offer the best education for the well being of our children. We serve you, we welcome your ideas and concerns. Together we will lead the Wiseburn School District to continued success.

On November 8th, I ask for your vote for Mora, Kaneda, Martinez, so we may continue to serve you Thank You. Good Night.
