The students are closing the gap and the district is financially sound. The new facilities look great!
The API scores are improved at all our high schools and we > continue to assure our students and parents of our commitment to > provide highly qualified teachers as mandated by NCLB.CVUHSD has more advanced placement programs (AP courses)and had 1500 students enrolled in these classes. This consistent increase tearly means more kids in college. I also supported five smaller Learning Community academies: Environmental, Multimedia, International, Marine Science and Engineering and Manufacturing Academies to enrich the educational experience for those students wishing to specialize in these areas. The district is now fiscally solvant (County Audit). The $59 million bond money was put to good use. We built a new gymnasium at Lawndale High School, and added computers and a beautiful library full of books for the students. Hawthorne High School has a new state-of-the-art cafeteria wing and new classrooms. Leuzinger has new classrooms, and a new locker room. All the high schools have new state-of the-art lighting and field restorations. We are presently building a Performing Arts Center on Lawndale campus which will one day provide additional funding for student scholarships and educational programs.
