Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Cerritos Community College District

Bob Epple is a product of local schools. He was born locally. He graduated from Excelsior High, and went into the U.S. Army. After serving in the Army for four years, he returned and attended Cerritos College where he met his future wife, Cheryl. While at Cerritos College he was active in student government. He graduated from Cerritos College, but continued to work on the campus while continuing his college education. In 1979 he became an attorney.

Bob was elected to the Cerritos College Governing Board in November of 1981. On the night he was to be sworn in as a board member, his daughter Nicole was born! The first meeting was one of the very few he missed. In 1988 Bob was elected to the California State Assembly, serving in Sacramento on the Ways and Means Committee, and the Education Budget Sub-committee of Ways and Means. There he became keenly aware of the need to actively seek support for equal treatment of under-funded schools and colleges.

Since leaving the legislature in 1994 Bob has been a member of the Bellflower Noon Lions, served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Family Guidance Center, including a term as it's President. He has served on the Cerritos College Foundation, an organization that raises money for scholarships and college needs. In the past he has been a member of the Cerritos Optimists, the Cerritos Jaycees, the Frontier District Boy Scout Advisory Council, the Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach Investment Committee, and many other organizations.

In September of 2004 he was appointed by the Cerritos College Board to fill out the unexpired term of his wife Cheryl who passed away the previous July.
