  • I was raised in a large family. We all grew up on my Father's income, a teacher's salary. My Mother a college graduate decided to stay home and raise us. It was a tough decision to make and a tough job to take. None the less she did it and was quite successful. Through tough choices and self sacrafice, she raised us all well and stretched an already thin budget a little more. I learned much from my parents and siblings. Love of family, community, how to stretch a tight budget and team work. Fast forward to the near future.
  • I moved to the Antelope Valley over 12 years ago, to start an interesting carreer in the California Department of Corrections. I have stood toe to toe with some of the worst in our society and yet remained positive. I realized that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
  • At one point of my carreer I decided that I needed to finish my education. I made a tough decision to complete my Bachelor's degree. I worked forty hours a week at night and went to school full time during the day. I was tired, but I toughed it out and completed my goal. A Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Many Public Administration courses and many lessons learned.
  • During that time I met my wife. We met 10 years ago and have been married for 9. For the love of family, we have 3 beautiful and bright children.
  • Today I am running for Westside Unified School District Board of Trustee for those reasons that I learned through out my life. Love of community and family. To get the most out of a budget, tough choices and team work. I feel that I can do this. Why? Because I have been there. I have spent late nights working hard doing research on papers, paying bills, and I know what it is to see an increase in my bills. I personally do not like to see my hard earned money wasted. I work hard for that money and I myself want that money treated that way. I have given much to my family and now I want to give more to my community.
  • My mother taught me to treat people the way I want to be treated. I learned that lesson and will never forget that. I will treat your tax dollars the way that you would want it spent. In the classroom for the children's education. I am obviously no politician but I did learn that good government is good politics and I will do the right thing. Thank you,
John Curiel
