Joe Bonanno has been a professor at El Camino College (ECC) for over thrity-one years. He served for over ten years on the Academic Senate, three as vice president and four as president. Bonanno represented ECC at state Academic Senate meetings and represented ECC before the Board of Governors for California Community Colleges. As Senate President, Joe presented faculty issues to the ECC Trustees and helped write College policy.

Joe and his wife Jan have lived in Torrance for over 20 years. The Bonanno's eldest daughter graduated from North High. Joe served as vice president and president of the Parent Teacher Organization where his children attended school. His grand children have attend TUSD schools.

During his first term the four promises he made to the voters were accomplished. API scores improved to 810 which surpassed both the state (800) and the federal (590) goals. PFLAGE was eleminated from our campuses. Special Education has improved with the new "Learning Center Model". This is not only benificial for our students but saved us $300,000 in transportation costs. And the Board has been more responsive to the community as evidenced by the Arlington School concerns and accepting TEF's and TPO's fundraising to restore class size reduction in K - 3. These were only two concerns of the community that the Board listened and acted upon.

Also during his first term Mr. Bonanno will have completed the nine courses in "Masters in Governance" sponsored by the California School Board Association by Oct. 22, 2005. These courses are vital for anyone who is serving as a Trustee for and K - 12 district.

With all the above and more not noted here Joe Bonanno in more than qualified to serve as TUSD board member and is also most willing.
