Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Fortuna Union High School District

The biggest issue is the declining enrollment for the High School and the surrounding feeder school's (whose students typically would feed into the High School) and the loss of funds that these students would generate to operate their Districts. As we lose more and more business's and jobs in Humboldt County and in particular our local area, our major concern is how we are to retain those students who are in our school system and also to be able to keep those staff and supporting member of the District in order to give our students, the education, materials and support that they need in order to go on to become a well educated student who will be able to obtain a substainable job for the future

As a Board of Trustee member, I would look at all issues concerning the School District & it's students, faculty, administrators, maintenance, custodial, and ALL other supporing staff and do my best to see that they have the help and support needed to do the great job that they are doing now.

I would look into all avenues of financial support that would help the District in it's goals, not excluding trying to getting grants, gift's and/or donations from the communities to support the School District.

I would also try to do my best to support the District in it's efforts to modernize all of it's buildings (class rooms, supporting buildings) in order to maintain a safe and clean enviroment for its students and staff.
