Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Rio Dell School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I am currently serving the third term of my service as a trustee and I am working hard to implement the District's vision and realize District goals. I am committed to providing a quality education program in a positive school climate for all students.

Towards these ends I have personally invested in the educational opportunitites available to board members. Attending workshops, seminars, and governance programs when they were offered to board members has helped me understand my role as a member of the Governance Team. I have completed the California School Boards Association "Masters in Governance" program. I received the Masters in Governance Certificate after completing 56 hours of intensive training on the role of the governance team in setting the diredction of the district, student learning and achievement, school finance and facilities, human resources, setting policy, collective bargaining, and community leadership. This certificate demonstrates my commitment to learning, leadership, and effective governance in the interest of better serving the students of Rio Dell.

I have enjoyed 17 years in Rio Dell with my family as a community member and owner of the Pizza Factory. I believe that my experience as an employer and my links to the community through active participation in the Chamber of Commerce, the Community Action Forum, the Scotia-Rio Dell Service Club, the Adopt-A-Highway Program, and St. Patrick's Parish help me fulfill my governance role in overseeing the systems responsible for educating our children and preparing them to be productive citizens.
