1. What skills and ideas will you bring to the Council to meet the challenges of a changing city?

Answer from Bob J. Marshall:

I bring over 30 years as a Planning Commissioner, active community leader, and involved citizen, in addition to my skills as a manager, former business owner, and expert in real estate and urban planning. I believe that I am uniquely qualified to be elected your next City Council Member.

Answer from Alan L. "AL" Nagy:

"Working for a Better Newark" is more than a slogan--it's my commitment to the job you have entrusted to me. As your councilman and vice mayor, I'm proud to be a member of the team that continues to make Newark a better place in which to live, work and play.

Fiscal management, public safety, and quality-of-life are the foundational issues I use to measure my effectiveness. Unlike communities that have reduced critical services because of the current economic downturn, we've maintained our high level of services for our citizens through prudent fiscal management. Public safety is my highest priority!

We must continue to provide our police and firefighters with high caliber equipment and training so they can do their jobs with skill and safety. Quality-of-life issues are the reason we live here. I support our park and recreational initiatives, the cooperative programs between our city and school district, our city beautification and "traffic calming" projects, and the programs that support seniors and families. These are what make Newark a family friendly place with its special small town feeling.

I would appreciate your vote on November 8th so I can continue "Working for a Better Newark!"

Answer from Ana M. Apodaca:

As the former District Director to Senator Liz Figueroa, I worked for almost a decade on key local, regional and state issues, such as public safety, education, transportation, and economic development. I bring that knowledge and experience with me to the Council. I am a problem solver who believes in working collaboratively and building community partnerships.
