Secure Our BordersBy Guy E. MaillyCandidate for United States Representative; District 48 | |

AMNESTY DOES VIOLENCE TO OUR LAWS Millions of illegal immigrants sneak into our country, violate our borders and flout our laws. Some in Washington tell us that we should give amnesty to these lawbreakers. I disagree. Amnesty for those who have entered our country illegally is wrong. If given the opportunity to serve you, I will be your voice in Washington to have the immigration laws not only enhanced, but enforced. WE CANNOT IGNORE THE THREAT ANY LONGER We must have the national will to secure our borders to prevent the inflow of illegal drugs and the flood of illegal immigrants. The threat of terrorism demands no less. It requires strict control of our borders and better tracking and monitoring of foreign nationals. The drug trade funds terrorism and is a direct threat to the lives of our children. No measure is too severe to stop the flow. There is a difference between lawful and unlawful immigration. In our society, we obey the law; we have every right to expect others to do the same; and we have every right to enforce our laws. WE CELEBRATE NEW CITIZENS America is still a shining city on the hill and millions of people come to America yearning for freedom and opportunity. Every year approximately five hundred thousand people study, prepare and take a test, and, ultimately, take the oath of citizenship. We share their joy and welcome them as Americans. In going through our immigration process, they have followed our laws, embraced the shared values of our nation, and honored America. Strengthening and enforcement of our immigration laws, not amnesty for those who break them, is the answer. |
