Mayor; City of Cincinnati

Senator Mark Mallory represents Ohio's 9th Senate district in the Ohio General Assembly, which includes the majority of the city of Cincinnati. He is a life-long Cincinnatian, born and raised in the West End. He is a graduate of the Cincinnati Academy of Math and Science and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Management from the University of Cincinnati. Senator Mallory is the youngest of six children, led by Senator Mallory's mother, and his father, former Ohio House Majority Leader William L. Mallory, Sr. In 1996, the Mallory family was honored as the Black Family Reunion's "Family of the Year" for their commitment to public and community service.

Senator Mallory is a two-term Ohio Senator who has served in the legislature since he was first elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1994, replacing his father who retired after serving the district for nearly three decades. Mallory is the Assistant Democratic Leader in the Ohio Senate and currently the highest ranking African American Democrat in state government. If he is successful in this campaign, he would make history as the first African American Mayor directly elected by the people of Cincinnati.

In the Senate, Mark Mallory is known for his pragmatic leadership and for working across party lines. He has focused on cracking down on predatory lenders who charge excessive rates for seniors to refinance their homes, and for fighting for $150 million in the latest budget to protect funding for daycare and health care programs for working families. Mallory also fought successfully in the last legislative session for an additional $1 million for teacher training and programs to reduce the dropout rates in Cincinnati public schools.

Senator Mallory has a strong vision for the future of Cincinnati. He intends to be a hands-on mayor, who will work directly with businesses small and large; and with community groups and individuals throughout our city. Senator Mallory envisions a new approach to economic development that focuses on increasing communication between City Hall and Cincinnati businesses. He believes that Cincinnati can move forward only if each of our neighborhoods is moving forward. That is why he intends to focus on economic development, home ownership, and crime reduction initiatives in all of Cincinnati's neighborhoods.
