Better Planning With Real LeadershipBy Charles H "Chuck" HandworkCandidate for Council Member; City of Brentwood | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Leadership is what this city needs to get the planning done right. I will represent the home owners who want better education for their children, ensure the security, privacy and value of their homes
As a father of 4, I am greatly concerned with the planning. I see parents leaving at 4:30am returning at 6:30-7:30pm after having to work a long day in the city carrying fast food because there was no time to make a family dinner. Daycare staying open later to allow parents time through traffic-while the city continues to build additional neighborhoods.
I see the city assisting commercial developers to purchase residential zoned property within residential developments with a goal to re-zone commercial.
I will work to meter the growth of new homes, tying them directly to traffic improvements.
I want to see high paying jobs move to the east county. Highway 4 bypass is the best location to encourage businesses that will bring in high paying jobs. Finding better ways our families can spend more time together should be the Brentwood's goal-not building homes for more cars to fill our already congested streets.
I will work with local law enforcement to ensure they have the equipment they need and the man power needed.
Brentwood is using the dispatching services from Antioch adding a response delay to our emergency vehicles. Regarding our rapid growth, it's time for us to discuss creating our own dispatch system or working with Antioch to improve theirs.
As our city grows Vasco Rd continues to be a dangerous and unsafe route, this need to be addressed by all east county cities (Brentwood, Oakley, Antioch, Pittsburg, Byron, etc) and work together with County and State officials to overhaul this deadly road. To move Highway 4 and Vasco Road up the state's priority list.
I will work to bring efficient planning and find innovative solutions without new taxes. Revenues from our growing businesses and sales tax base are up significantly and this trend will continue.
I served over 7 yrs in the Marines; I know the value of a hard day's work.
I'm only accepting contributions from home owners and small businesses. Your support is greatly appreciated, and be sure to visit my web site for the latest developments in this exciting election! |
