Why You Should Vote for Peter ZovakBy Peter A. ZovakCandidate for Council Member; City of Temple City | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Four years ago, I was honored to have been elected to the city council of the City of Temple City and I am now serving my last year on the council as Mayor. During this time, I have worked hard to develop innovative and efficient methods of addressing the needs and demands of the community. When I first ran for election to the city council, I stated in my campaign and my candidate's statement that I would work to improve the quality of life in Temple City by focusing on the following: Promoting fiscal responsibility Revitalizing/diversifying commercial areas Obtaining greater public input in city affairs Increasing recreation programs Improving customer service After serving my term on the city council, it is my opinion that Temple City has advanced tremendously in all of these important areas of focus. In my capacity as councilmember and current capacity as Mayor, here are just some of the accomplishments that have taken place: Accomplishments: Fiscal decisions resulting in 3 years of budget surplus (despite State raids of over $600,000). Arrival of new businesses such as Starbucks, Applebees, Baskin Robbins/Togos, Blockbuster, Hawaiian BBQ, and Wells Fargo. Rezoning of Las Tunas Drive to foster downtown retail diversification. Conducted community meetings/surveys concerning important issues such as residential design, new park/open space, and business attraction. Created weekend code enforcement program and instituted a proactive approach to enforcement/education. Initiated new youth recreation programs including "Camp-Out" and "Movies" in the Park and improved services for senior Dial A Ride. Supported Joint-Use Agreement with Temple City Unified School District for new lighting and fencing of school field for recreation programming. Improved City technology, finally allowing for internet payments/registrations for recreation programs. More forward progress has taken place in Temple City in the last four years than in years previous and more work is necessary to continue this momentum and improve our quality of life. It is for these reasons that I have decided to seek re-election for city council. The election is scheduled for March 8, 2005 and your vote and support would be appreciated. As you know, every vote counts! Thank you for your support over the last four years. With your help I hope to be able to continue serving the community. Thank you again. |
