Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Robert W.G "Rob" Machulla

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Monrovia

This information is provided by the candidate

Even though my position is at a local level for City Council I belive it is important to keep in mind state level politics and federal as well. For example nearby cities like Alhambra and Temple City have had their city councils voice resolutions condemming parts of the "USA PATRIOT ACT" they deem to be unconsitutional. I will not stress this in my campign but if the issue comes forth at a meeting, and I am elected, I will fight to preserve the values of our civil liberties and fight for freedom and against any unconsiututional laws the Bush Administration may come forward with making into law.

I will fight against any military draft and will fight for issues that concern the youth here like education and make sure they continue to get a good one at Monrovia schools. I know firsthand what its like because I graduated from MHS in 2002 and the memories are still fresh so issues of education that come up to the council I can help out with greatly from just being there. I hope to boost youth turnout and get young people involved in politics because it affects them more then anyone.

I am a resistered Independent. I am not a democrat or republican and I beieve in finding common ground on many issues especially at a local level to bring a community together. On issues like what to do with the parking situation, it's obviously something that doesn't require liberal or conservative thought behind it but its good to know where someone is coming from in their ideals. I hope to preserve what we have and will fight for the people to keep their rights in a time of uneasiness with peoples feelings.

On the issue of parking I believe we must be responsible with home ownership and preserving historic homes but built a responsible business as we have. We have improved vastly as a town since 1973 and will continue to and I see my voice as one of hope for a brighter future and not only looking to the next few years but to the next 10 and 20 down the road because I may still be here then and want to see good progress be done here. My voice can bring new fresh ideas to the table of thoughts and I hope to have support and preserve this area and make it better then it is.
