Council Member, Council; City of Redondo Beach; District 1

I am a resident of District 1, a family man, and a retired Major of the United States Air Force. I have been married to Vicki, my wife of more than 17 years. She's been the one who has kept me straight and focused. We have lots of pets, and enjoy living in our wonderful city, which most of you, I'm sure agree with me.

But who is Tom Conroy and why should we vote for him?

Well, let's start out with my family. I come from a long line of First Responders. You ask... what is a 'First Responder'? Well, it's pretty simple. My family has served our country one form or another since World War I. We have been police officers, fireman, and paramedics. We have served in every branch of the military, the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines and even the Coast Guard. I've had the privileged of becoming the first military officer, and had the distinction of working with some of the finest men and women anyone could have ever imagined. I was blessed with mentors too many mention who have guided my life and career moves. Once such unnamed man, was my boss in the Air Force. He gave me the opportunity of a lifetime - to work at the higher echelons (Office of the Secretary of the Air Force Special Projects) of the military - an insight to all the great things our servicemen are doing to protect the United States and its citizens. It provided me an opportunity to see the world and interface with multi-national cultures. It was the foundation that created my being.

After I retired, I went into the motion picture industry and brought some of my technical expertise on more than 30 films. I also had the opportunity to work with then actor, now Governor Schwarzenegger on films such as Terminator II, The Last Action Hero, and True Lies. It was an experience that I could not ever have imagined.

Today, I work to help companies establish an international presence. It's important that we continue to lead the world with innovation and drive. We have the best minds, the best education, and the best resources. It's my job to ensure that American companies have the chance to present their products to the rest of the world.

Around town, I'm on the Preservation Commission, and the Chairman of the Village Park Vision, which will be on the ballot on March 8th, 2005.

So, this is a snapshot into my life. I hope I have the opportunity to meet with you as I walk around the District. Feel free to come up and meet with me. I would love to hear your thoughts about our city.
