- School District Ladera Site Concept
-
Our schools face a financial crisis. To obtain capital for investment income, the District considers selling property, such as the Begg pool area, the unused Ladera site south of Sand Dune Park, and the NW corner of Peck and MB Blvd. Whether to sell remains an issue strictly between the school board and the public. If the board does decide to sell, the city becomes involved by virtue of its zoning authority. In that case, Andreani favors a low-density residential area for Ladera.
- Acquisition Concept for Undergrounding Utilities
-
The project to underground Districts 1, 3 & 5 has ground to a halt in a management and financial disaster. For the remaining five assessment districts, the Andreani campaign proposes a different approach that puts the city in control, not the utility companies Edison, Verizon and Adelphia. Read on.
- Andreani Approach for School Financial Crisis
-
Our schools face a financial crisis because of state underfunding, and to some extent, school board mismanagement. By law, the city cannot give schools money, if it had any to spare, which being heavily in debt and spending more than receiving, it does not. Martha Andreani identifies three areas in which the city can help the schools, and gives an example for each.
