Trustee candidate for StudentsFor 33 years I have been a community college biology classroom instructor and that has put me in tune with the hopes, aspirations, and needs of students. I have learned that every student is unique and equally important. I will bring that experience and focus to the College District Board of Trustees and set student welfare as the top priority in decision making I have seen lives transformed and dreams realized because an affordable education was available. I bring a unique background to the district board. As a faculty representative to the college district's budget committee for over 20 years, I have a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the budgeting process and rules. I also know that the future of our college district depends upon achieving two critical things; securing a predictable and stable source of revenue and second, ensuring budget accountability at the local level. This will include permanently nailing down our legally owed portion of state monies. I will ensure that the district's current $189 million dollar budget is directed to fund student education beginning in the classroom.
