Through our schools, we build our future. However, our schools in Simi Valley must have the right tools to do their job. In addition, our schools have to promote policies, which remove obstacles to student achievement. That's why we need school board members who will work in partnership with parents and teachers, and give the schools the tools they need to give the students the skills they need. It means having safe, healthy classrooms where productive learning can take place. It means equipping our classrooms with the technology needed for modern teaching. It means having students who know there will be zero tolerance for unacceptable behavior, and it means supporting the kinds of drug and gang prevention programs which help kids stay on the right track. Students cannot learn if the classrooms and buildings are overcrowded, or schools and campuses are not safe, or if students are promoted before they have met the standards, or can't succeed in school because they can't read or write the language. |
