Congressman Ed Royce is a native Californian with deep roots in Orange County. Raised in Anaheim, Ed and his wife Marie currently reside in the City of Fullerton. Congressman Royce is a graduate of Anaheim's Katella High School and earned a degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton. Formerly a small businessman and a corporate tax manager for a major California company, Ed Royce was elected to the California State Senate in 1982. As Senator, Royce distinguished himself as a champion of crime victims and taxpayers. Royce's pioneering anti-stalking legislation was enacted into law in California. Since its passage, all 50 states have adopted similar anti-stalking statutes. In 1992, Ed Royce was resoundingly elected to Congress. Now in his 6th term, Ed Royce has earned the respect and admiration from colleagues on both sides of the aisles. In Congressman Royce's capacity as a member of the House International Relations Committee, he chairs the important African sub-committee and serves on the Asian sub-committee. In this capacity, Royce played an important role in the drafting and passing of the much praised African trade legislation. In addition, Royce also serves as a member of the House Financial Services Committee. Recently, as a senior member of the committee, Royce was a co-author of the landmark Corporate Accountability Act. This new law, largely in response to Enron style corruption has toughened penalties for corporate criminals and increases safeguards for American stock holders. Congressman Royce's voting record has earned him the "Taxpayer Hero" award from the Citizens Against Government Waste. In addition, he has been named "Taxpayer's Friend" by the National Taxpayers Union. In Orange County, Congressman Royce has gained a reputation for accessibility and responsiveness to his constituency. Each year Congressman Royce's office helps solve thousands of problems for Orange Countians needing help with a an array of federal concerns. Whether obtaining benefits for veterans, helping navigate through the federal bureaucracy or just arranging school tours at the Capitol, Congressman Royce's office is widely praised. |
