I was born and raised in California. I attended K-12 in Saratoga, California and moved to San Diego in 1978 to attend San Diego State University. I graduated SDSU in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. I went to work at a large corporation where I won election and maintained as the President of their sales association. I continued to work in sales until I opened my own business in 1992. My business, Riders House, is a leader in the snowboard, surf & skateboard retail industry. My business has been recognized in the promotion of amateur athletics and in the hiring and guidance of East County youth.

I was honored with both the San Diego County Volunteer of the Year and the California Center on Victimology Volunteer of the Year award in 1991. I am a proud member of the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club which is a non profit organization dedicated to raising money for amateur athletics in the community and was awarded their Volunteer of the Month for October 2003.

I am a cancer survivor and have become a staunch advocate for cancer prevention, screenings and education. I have worked with cancer patients in the community by sharing my story to create hope and understanding.

I have been married for 18 years to my wife Tracy, who is a teacher in the San Diego School District. We have three boys, Adam 16, Ben 14, and Scott 11. I have coached, sponsored and promoted sports for all our boys and for the children in our community. Our boys attend public schools in the community and are actively involved in sports and after school programs.

The following is my Statement of Qualifications which reads identically as it does in our voter pamphlets:

Our community will benefit greatly from Chris Larkin's business experience and social conscience. Representing us in Sacramento, Chris will work to strengthen and protect our community. His focus will always be on building a better way of life for all the hard working people, our seniors, and the youth of our community.

As a graduate of the SDSU School of Business, he went to work at a large corporation and served as President of their sales association until starting his own business in 1992. Business ownership has helped him to become skilled in finance, budgeting, negotiating, and management. His business, Riders House, is an industry leader in Southern California, which has created jobs and provided guidance for East County youth.

His leadership has been recognized in the promotion of local sports competitions, and his business has provided major charitable contributions to East County schools, churches, and clubs. Chris has been a little league manager, coach, and sponsor in the community. In 1991, Chris was recognized as the San Diego County volunteer of the year for his dedicated service to the community. He is a proud member of the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club and received their volunteer of the month award in October 2003. Chris moved from the Bay Area to San Diego in 1978 and has been a resident of the East County for the last 17 years. Married for 18 years, his wife is a second grade teacher and they have three boys. "My life and business experience has prepared me for the job of Assembly Representative for the 77th District and I would be honored to receive your support." Chris.
