In March of 2004, California voted for a proposition that gave the bureaucrats another 12 billion dollars to save our flagging educational system. Suckers.12 billion dollars? Does anyone care what has happened to the other 25 billion dollars voters have given to Sacramento in the last 8 years? As long as we listen to the political nonsense and we continue to plow obscene amounts of money into special interest coffers, Sacramento has no incentive to reduce the burgeoning edifice of our current educational system. California has a dual bureaucracy in the administration of the K-12 school system. Not only can one full level of government be eliminated, the remaining portion can be reduced from the top down to middle management resulting in improved performance of the system and greatly reduced costs. Implementation of such an initiative would require a highly progressive change in the mindset of many Sacramento politicians. An education referendum from Californians, much like the recent recall, will send a definitive message to Sacramento that the residents of California are once again in control of their government. |
