A perfect world would have no taxes. The problem is, ours is not a perfect world even though we are currently taxed to a point wherein we should have paid for one by now.
California's taxes (including all fees, levies, etc.) are at an historical level as a percentage of income. The current political agenda seems to be that the citizens should be cared for from cradle to grave. The State's obligation to manage the daily lives of Californians exists only in the minds of a myriad of bureaucrats and politicians who seek to garner corporate favor, appease special interest groups and promote personal agendas that are contrary to the public good. I believe that by reducing government size and control, only then can taxes be reduced long-term and waste eliminated. While this idea may seem obvious, try to name one political incumbent who has consistently voted to reduce government control or size. None come to mind? As your Libertrian state senator, I will vote against every single request for added revenues to all state programs. By eliminating the corruption and waste, Californians will be amazed at the amount of money readily available for our current programs, particularly education.
