By Randy "Duke" Cunningham

Candidate for United States Representative; District 50

This information is provided by the candidate
As the father of two daughters who attended public schools in San Diego, I have a very personal perspective on how the federal government should be involved in education. I am dedicated to providing sufficient funding for our schools, not only in the San Diego area but throughout the United States. I believe it is important to ensure that the money gets directly to the classroom so the parents and teachers are empowered to make the decisions for our children.

I believe that our nation's education system needed accountability and that is why I voted for the No Child Left Behind plan. I have maintained open communications with local school administrators about regulations that need to be changed in order to effectively implement this plan and will continue to work with the school districts to make sure the new laws are successful. As a member of the House Committee that funds federal education, I will continue in my efforts to ensure California receives its fair share of federal education dollars, giving all San Diego's children a chance to excel and achieve.
