Questions & Answers

1. What can be done to ensure that California gets its fair share of federal resources?

The system is broken and can't be fixed. We should stop fighting with our friends, the other 49 states over the money left over by the Federal government. only 70% of the money taken from the states is returned. Instead, the federal government should tax far less and allow the states to run their own affairs. The federal government should stick to its Constitutionally mandated and authorized tasks and nothing more.

2. What are your foreign policy priorities for the United States?

Far, far less foreign intervention. Far, far less foreign aid, with an eye to eliminating it. Our military should be used for self-defense only and should be primarily based in the USA. There is no need for us to be in Macedonia, Haiti and other places of no strategic interest. I was in support of the war in Iraq. But, we must be extraordinarily careful where and when we put our young soldiers at risk.

3. What are your priorities for the federal budget?

Drastically reduce the size and scope of the Federal budget. Eliminate needless agencies and programs. Have all federal agencies justify their budget and existence every four years. Cut or eliminate those agencies that do not produce the results promised.
