CINDY THOMAS Lucinda "Cindy" Thomas was born in San Rafael, California. She maintained residence in Marin County before moving to Petaluma in 1991. She graduated from Novato High School and then attended trade school to become a telecommunications technician. Thomas worked for AT&T/Pacific Bell from 1974 to 1986. She traveled with her previous husband who was enlisted with the U.S. Army from 1987 to 1991, during which time she trained to become a veterinary assistant. After settling in Petaluma, Thomas worked briefly at Petaluma Valley Hospital. In 1993, she assumed a telecommunications position with Kaiser Permanente where she continues to work. Currently, Thomas works on regional projects as a labor liaison representing union employees. She's also certified to facilitate training for Kaiser managers and employees who participate in Labor/Management Partnership activities. She received her trainer status from Federal Mediation & Conciliation Services in 2000 and teaches Interest-Based Problem Solving and Consensus Decision Making. Thomas has had leadership roles with Communications Workers of America, AFL-CIO, CLC and with Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO, CLC. She currently serves as Vice President on the Executive Board of Healthcare Workers Union, SEIU, Local 250 and is a delegate to the North Bay Labor Council, AFL-CIO. In local leadership roles, she serves on the City of Petaluma Animal Services Advisory Committee and as Executive Secretary on the Board of Directors for Petaluma Community Access. Thomas is a Fellow of the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy having completed Leadership Training for a Sustainable Future, Class of 2002. Thomas enjoys gardening and spending time with family, friends and her dog, Buddy. She and her husband John have four grown children and one grandchild. |
