After teaching in the Watts area in South Central Los Angeles for three years, my late wife Lana and I moved to Santa Rosa where we both taught English. She taught 25 years at Piner High School and was founder of the School of Humanities; I taught 32 years at Montgomery High School where I served as English Department Chair for 12 years. For 10 of those years, I was Montomery's speech and debate coach. I also was the elected president of Santa Rosa Teacher's Association for five years where I attended Board of Education meetings on a regular basis. Since my retirement two years ago, I have worked as an Educational Supervisor for Dominican University in which I directly supervise and evaluate student teachers.

Both our children attended Santa Rosa City Schools and both hold teaching credentials. My current wife, Lucy, worked in the severely handicapped classroom at Montgomery High School.

I am involved in our community. I am currently a Volunteer Senior Peer Counselor for Family Service Agency, and I am on the Executive Board of Concerned Citizens for Santa Rosa. Recently I graduated from Santa Rosa Citizens Academy and from the Leadership Institute for a Sustainable Future.
