A statement on the challenges to SRJC as we move forward.
. Santa Rosa Junior College is presently confronted with some significant challenges. Adequate funding ranks as the number one concern. Until the State solves its' financial problems SRJC will struggle to provide the quality educational experience we are known for. I'm also concerned about the aging faculty and administration. Our quality faculty and administrative staff have served the College well for many years, but the prevalence of retirements is beginning to create a serious challenge. The lack of financial resources coupled with Sonoma County's high cost of living is making it difficult to attract the most qualified candidates. The next five to seven years will be critical to the continuation of our long-time quality reputation. Another concern of mine is the continuity of a strong Board of Trustees. My wish is that it continues its make-up of board members who are not politically motivated and make solid policy decisions for the good of the students and community. The SRJC Board is not a place for special interest influence.
