This information is provided by the candidate

I was born and raised in Morro Bay. I believe that I would add a unique, historical perspective to the council that is missing at the present time. To the best of my knowledge, no one who was born in Morro Bay has ever served on the City Council. I would like to change that.

I attended Morro Elementary School, Morro Bay High School, Cuesta College and Cal Poly. My three children, Jennifer, Shawn and Emily all went to the same elementary and high school that I did. I worked at Cuesta College until I retired several years ago. My wife, Janice, currently works at Cuesta College as the Director of Computer Services. My father, Coy, now deceased, owned and operated a business in Morro Bay for 40 years. My mother, Inez, still lives in town.

While I was at Cuesta College I served as Vice-President and President of the Classified Employees Union. I was a job steward and served as a statewide member of the CFT's Classified Employees Council. I lobbied legislators in Sacramento and made several trips to Washington, D.C. I helped organize in Portland, Oregon and San Diego, California.

Since retiring, I have served on the Destination Youth Task Force to determine uses for the city's Teen Center. I am currently serving on the Recreation and Parks Commission. I am the chairperson of the Ad Hoc Emergency Services Committee, which is looking at ways to improve fire station staffing and possibilities for a new fire station/ fire stations. I also serve on the Morro Bay High School Management Team and the San Luis Coastal School District's Reconceptualization Committee. I belong to the Morro Bay Historical Society and the Chamber of Commerce. I'm a supporter of the Friends of the Library.

I feel the City of Morro Bay has been very good to my family and me. I care very much about this city and the people who live here. I want to give something back to the place that has given so much to me.
