I feel that the top issues that need to be addressed in Ripon are managed residential growth, safety in our neighborhoods, and to ensuring a healthy environment for everyone. I propose the following to enhance our community's quality of life.1. Take over Ripon Lighting District to better serve and maintain our city's street lighting needs. Get our lights on in our neighborhoods as soon as possible. 2. Well planned controlled growth that recognizes and preserves open space, environmental habitats and agricultural land with housing opportunities for all income levels. 3. High quality education and school facilities promoting life-long learning opportunities. Providing and supporting educational, mentoring and recreational opportunities with youth to senior programs. 4. Form partnerships with school district, private business and nonprofit agencies to maximize the community benefit of existing public and private facilities emphasizing joint use of public facilities. 5. Enhancing economic development by retaining and supporting existing businesses and promoting new business opportunities that produce quality local jobs. 6. Provide a balance of good jobs, thriving businesses and quality housing within the community. 7. Improvements to streets, parking and roadways to have safe, reliable, efficient citywide transportation system that is also pedestrian and bicycle friendly 8. Completing the riverside bike and hiking trail from Stouffers Park to Caswell with easy access for Ripon residents. 9. Protect the character of our heritage neighborhoods, downtown business district, agriculture economy and open spaces that make Ripon unique and special. Preserving local landmarks for Ripon generations to come. 10. Foster an open and inclusive community communication and promote full community participation in the government of our city. |
