Aaron Peskin and his wife Nancy have lived in District 3 for 14 years. Elected in December of 2000, Aaron serves as Supervisor for District 3, which encompasses the heart of San Francisco + Chinatown, North Beach, Polk Gulch, Russian Hill, Nob Hill, Telegraph Hill, Golden Gateway, the Financial District and Fisherman's Wharf. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Aaron is a lifelong environmentalist. Aaron has 15 years of experience negotiating real estate deals on behalf of environmental non-profit organizations. Prior to his election to the board, Aaron served as the Director of an environmental non-profit that secures water rights for Native Americans in Nevada. Previously, he worked as a principal at the Trust for Public Land, where he helped protect local parks and preserved open space throughout the West. Aaron has been involved in neighborhood issues for more than a decade. Most recently, he served as President of the Telegraph Hill Dwellers, a neighborhood group with 750 members. Aaron has led the fight to protect neighborhood character and vitality in the North Beach area, including saving the Colombo Building from demolition, strengthening protections for some of San Francisco's most prized landmarks in Jackson Square and proposing model legislation to protect small businesses and local character. At the Board of Supervisors, Aaron is Vice Chair of the Finance & Audits Committee and the Land Use Committee. Aaron has also served as Vice Chair of the Budget Committee which reviews and approves the City's $5 billion budget. At City Hall, Aaron has fought to preserve neighborhood character and improve the quality of life in San Francisco for all its residents. |
