Education Resources and a High School

I will lead teachers, parents and administrators to cooperate with each other for the greatest "learning community" possible... to achieve more by studying success at other school systems within or outside California. I will urge and encourage the Grossmont High School District to place a new High School, at a site near or within the community of Alpine.

As a sidebar... I attended a Unified School District that had one High School with a total enrollment of appr. 550 from 1970 to '74. This community had a great pride in it's little High School, and it provided esteem building, prideful opportunities for it's student body. The entire community rallied behind it's kids, most of whom many had grown up together since birth. Great grand parents, grand parents, parents, cousins, family friends, etc., etc., showed up in numbers to support band concerts, drama performances, athletic events, and graduations. An entire social/cultural/fanatic society revolved around that little High School... Go Big Red... Go Tigers! If our community can make a High School happen... we would benefit substantially.

Our locality needs a High School to enable us to mature and develope a "kinship like" social structure comprised of local residents... multi generational . Our kids play sports together, learn together, attend church together, are in scouts together... mostly all local, but then our community becomes split, with NO LOCAL choice for our children entering High School.

I am an advocate for Grossmont Union High School District's placment of the next High School they build in, or very near, Alpine.
