My Position

By Andrew J "Andy" Sundstrom

Candidate for Board Member; Grossmont Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate
My 3 main points
1. I will serve no other agenda but to improve the quality of education for East County high school students. I believe that partisan politics have no place in public education.
2. I bring a blue-collar perspective and a desire to enhance communication between all stakeholders in the school district and East County communities. I serve no hidden agendas.
3. The three most important educational issues are Academic Quality, Safety, and Budget Reductions:
  • Academic Quality - Work with teachers, support staff, and the administration to Raise the Bar, Eliminate the Achievement Gap, and Enhance Opportunities for students going to college and those who choose not to attend.
  • Safety - Follow-up on recommendations made by the Lessons Commission and the Blue Ribbon Commission related to safety with further input from parents and students.
  • Budget Reductions - Lobby to get fully funded state mandates, reverse a deficit spending trend, and research and develop new funding resources.
