Returning Civility to School BoardBy Ben HuesoCandidate for Board Member; San Diego Unified School District; District D | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Strong leadership encourages others to follow. The school board needs to focus on educational issues and not selfish political agendas. Discussions on the board need to be constructive and related to improving student achievement. The school board sets the tone for the district leaders to follow. A divisive board would only promote divisiveness. A board that works collaboratively to solve problems is not only constructive, but inspirational. A board that conveys a sense of determination to work through difficult discussions to create solutions is required in order to promote collaboration among district staff, increase public confidence in the district, and to serve as role models to our children. |
