Community Service

By Joe Horger

Candidate for Board Member; Lakeside Community Planning Area

This information is provided by the candidate
As a husband, father of two adorable girls, and Eucalyptus Hills homeowner, I have a vested interest in the quality and character of Lakeside.

I am a strong supporter of recreational projects such as the development of riding and hiking trails, ball fields for youth sports, and the preservation of natural areas. Those efforts are epitomized by the San Diego River Park - Lakeside Conservancy, of which I am a member.

I also believe in smart commercial and residential growth - the kind that adds appeal to the community in general and real value to homeowners in particular.

I am also optimistic that the General Plan can guide us in building a new and better image for Lakeside while embracing its history and spirit.

I am a member of the Lakeside Historical Society. I support the creation of a historical district designation for Lakeside's town center.

We need representatives who will support community projects such as the Lakeside River Park, youth sports fields, and a comprehensive trails system.

We need representatives who will make smart choices that keep our streets safe and protect our neighborhoods' rural character from uncontrolled growth.

We need representatives who have a vision of Lakeside's future as a great place to visit, or to raise families, or to retire.

Those candidates representing the same core values as I are endorsed by the group Preserve Lakeside Area Neighborhoods.

If you share these values, please allow me and other PLAN-sponsored candidates to represent our common interest in building a Lakeside we can be proud of now and for future generations.
