Candidate for
Council Member; City of Carlsbad

My name is Tracy Carmichael, I am 42 years old, married, with two children ages 22 and 12. Our family has a dental practice in Oceanside.

I have served as an elected official on the Carlsbad School Board for eight years. During this time Carlsbad Schools have become shining stars with high test scores and numerous awards and recognitions. The renovation of old facilities and adding state of the art facilities were a high priority while remaining fiscally sound and strong. I believe that this experience will allow me to lead this city with clear focus for the future.

Protect Public Safey and Public Education. This will always be my top priority. Our community needs to feel safe and know that they will be responded to immediately when the need arises. I will strength and support our outstanding fire,paramedic services and police. We must continue to have the best schools in the state. I have a proven commitment and a track record that supports quality schools and education for our children in Carlsbad. I have worked with local legislators advocating for our children in our community. That takes time and leadership.

Improve Regional Planning. Carlsbad needs to remain in the forefront of planning our region with our neighbors. Our communities need to be enhanced and protect.

Promote Economic Development. I am in favor of the Desalination Plant. I believe it will boost our high tech and bio tech industry. It will provide a reliable new local source of quality water to our region. Our redevelopment areas must be enhance and beaufified but must maintain its unique charm and character. We must cohesively work with our business community in developing and supporting economical plans that will be vital to our citizens and community.

The answer to these issues lay in the ability to create cohesive partnership with the community leaders, businesses, and our citizens.

Helping Carlsbad manage through this critical time will be my passion just as creating one of the finest school districts was my sole focus in the past. I will be a fulltime, accessible council member who will involve the citizens of Carlsbad to preserve and improve the quality of our lives. Carlsbad is beautiful and great. I hope that you will join me in shaping the final phases of our city in parntership to excellence.
