There are 35 separate agenciesproviding fire and emergency medical services in San Diego County's unincorporated area. These agencies vary in size, personnel, funding, equipment and levels of service. Would you support the consolidation of these 35 agencies into a single agency, provided that a consolidation results in a better-coordinated and enhanced delivery of fire protection and emergency medical services for your area?
The subject of this advisory measure concerns whether the voters support the consolidation of the 35 separate agencies that provide fire protection and emergency services within the unincorporated area of the County. These agencies vary in size, personnel, funding, equipment and level of service. Since this measure involves the unincorporated area of the County, which includes only that area of the County that is not part of any city, the Board of Supervisors has decided to present this measure only to voters residing in the unincorporated area of the County. The question presented by this measure is whether the voters would support the consolidation of these 35 separate agencies into a single agency, provided that a consolidation results in better coordinated and enhanced delivery of fire protection and emergency medical services. The voters' indication of support or non-support for this measure is advisory to the Board of Supervisors for purposes of future planning relative to the organization and status of the 35 separate agencies. A "Yes" vote means that you would support the consolidation of the 35 separate agencies into a single agency, provided that the consolidation results in better-coordinated and enhanced delivery of fire protections and emergency medical services. A "No" vote means that you do not support the consolidation of the 35 separate agencies.
