Financial Responsibility and a Balanced Budget

By Chuck Walker

Candidate for Board Member; Scotts Valley Unified School District; 4 Year Term

This information is provided by the candidate
Our schools have been damaged by a reckless school board and district superintendent. We need to make a change and elect members who will be prudent stewards of the money they already receive.
Our school district finances are a mess. The district has been deficit spending for four years in a row until they ran a nearly $2 million dollar surplus down to nothing. This was the personal equivilant of filing bankruptcy. This was all done to the full approval of the current school board.

This must end.

In fact, the situation became so dire that the County Board of Education ripped the budget from the hands of the Scotts Valley School Board and put together a budget the way it should have been done and with a $250,000 SURPLUS! How is it that the County Board of Education can seem to balance the budget with a surplus, and yet, the current Scotts Valley School Board runs the district into the ground financially?

It is time for a change.

I have years of experience balancing budgets for the City of Scotts Valley and we NEVER had deficit spending. Plus, as a city council member, I personally have helped provide money for emergency services helped secure millions of dollars in grant money for road improvements all at NO EXPENSE TO THE TAXPAYERS.

This is the type of prudent stewardship we need now on the Scotts Valley School Board.

So on November 2nd vote for experience that makes a difference.

Vote Chuck Walker for Scotts Valley School Board
