My Philosophy as a Port Commissioner

Every decision we make as Commissioners will have an impact on either our neighbors, our slip renters, our concessionaires, our visitors, our tenants, beach goers, surfers, or anyone else who wants to enjoy our Gateway to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. So, in preparation for every issue/situation coming before us, I spend time talking to as many interested members of our community as I can. I believe it is crucial to get as much public input as possible, in order for the Commissioners to have a productive dialogue, and consequently reach a decision that will have the greatest positive effect. My intention at our Commission meetings, is to keep the subject open till we have examined all the relevant aspects of it. As with everything in the public domain, we are not always able to please everyone. However, it is my philosophy that we must always try, because it is our responsibility to do so. The folks who elect us, rightfully expect nothing less.
