Candidate for
Trustee; Pajaro Valley Unified School District; Trustee Area 6

Mr. Anasatacio Andrade was born in Querendaro, Michoacan in Mexico. He was the oldest of twelve siblings. He immigrated to the United States at age 23, residing in Santa Cruz, California where he began working in the cultivation of mushrooms.

After moving to Watsonville, he began his involvement in the schools of the Pajaro Valley Unified School District. His initial participation was in parent education programs of the Migrant Education Program. He also became invovled in Bilingual Advisory Committees at Mintie White Elementary , E.A. Hall Middle School, and Watsonville High School.

Andrade's leadership skills were recognized by the parents and staff he interacted with at school sites and the district office. He was elected Presdient of the Migrant Parent Advisory Committee in 1986. He represented our school district as Sargent at Arms and Vice President of the California State Migrant Parent Advisory Committee.

His continued advocacy for children in the PVUSD contributed to several important efforts that benefited students. He continues to fight for appropriate allocation of resources to schools, medical and social services for students, and accoutnabilty for all stakeholders in the educational community.

Anastacio Andrade currently works in the Mushroom industry as a harvesting supervisor. His is married to Hortencia Andrade. They have three daughters and one son, all were students of the Pajaro Valley Unified School District.

About the community of the Pajaro Valley, Andrade states "we have been treated with such love and respect, we have always felt so much support. We feel very fortunate to live in this wonderful valley."
