Political Philosophy for Will Kennedy

Fiscal Policy For the last twelve years, I have operated my business in Santa Clara. My business is a law practice dedicated to protecting consumers in cases involving the lemon law, car purchases, credit reports and fraud. I operate my personal finances and my business according to the same economic principles which I plan to apply if elected: don't overextend, borrow only when it is truly necessary, and keep money in the bank so that every day brings you a dollar instead of costing you a dollar. These principles have been applied well in Santa Clara - such that we have a reserve which is allowing us to ride out the economic downturn without slashing city services. When the economy re-stabilizes, we must continue to fund our reserve at prior levels. Downtown I support re-establishing a small downtown entertainment/retail center on the city owned property west of Lafayette, between Homestead and Benton. Santa Clara is a wonderful city, but lacks a central gathering spot. Ethics in Government For the last twelve years, I have been combatting fraud and deception practiced upon consumers. I chose my profession because it was an opportunity to promote more honest and fair dealings. As a City Council member, I intend to continue continue these values and ensure that the city business is conducted in a fair, open, and ethical manner. |
